Who We Are

The Partners:

Billy A Silva, RPA,  Senior Archaeologist, Principal Investigator,(MA Anthropology)

Founder of BA Silva Sensing Systems, Billy has over 18 years of professional experience working throughout the Western United States and has directed hundreds of Class III cultural resource surveys with specialization in conducting geophysical studies. Mr. Silva’s work has included serving as Principal Investigator and Project Director on many projects including a geophysical survey at site 26Or3 in Carson, NV as a sub-consultant for Louis Berger Group; Geophysical Director at CA-PLU-1485, Seaside project and the Eureka Waterfront project, conducted for the Department of Transportation in California and recently completed a criminal investigation assisting with several East Bay Law Enforcement Departments in conjunction with the FBI. Additionally, Mr. Silva is HAZWOPER trained and certified.

Carl Phillip Lipo, Senior Archaeologist, Principal Investigator (PhD Anthropology)

Dr. Lipo is an Associate Professor at California State University at Long Beach, on the faculty of the Program for Archaeological Science and a founding member of IIRMES, a multi-disciplinary institute for the study of materials, environments, and society. His research combines pursuit of methods and theory for an evolutionary archaeology, studies of cultural transmission through agent-based modeling and phylogenetic methods, and archaeometric and geophysical methods for documenting cultural variability. Using a variety of collaborators, Dr. Lipo is currently involved in field projects examining the prehistory of Rapa Nui, the Mississippi River Valley and Guatemala.
